CONGRATULATIONS BILLY DRAGOO: AHS TEACHER OF THE YEAR &

UIL SPONSOR EXCELLENCE WINNER

Our very own director and head of the fine arts department was named Austin High School Teacher of the year. The University Interscholastic League also notified Dragoo that he had been chosen as one of 15 teachers/coaches/directors in Texas who has been selected as the winner of the UIL Sponsor Excellence Award. Dragoo has been a director for 23 years and has been at Austin High for the past 19 years. We are very proud to have him as the leader of our Fine Arts Department, as our Director, and as our mentor.

SPRING AWAKENING IS BACK!

Spread the word! Spring Awakening will be performed in just two weeks.  Details to know.

1.    February 24, 25 at 7:00 PM

2.    Mr. Dragoo has added a matinee on Sunday, February 26 at 2:00 PM.

3.    Tickets are $10 for students 18 and under and $15 per adult.

4.    Parent VIP Tickets (valid for each night) will be $30. Limit two per family.

5.    Tickets are on sale now and can be ordered by email Ms. Dragoo. adragoo@austinisd.org

6.    National adjudicators (critics) will be here for the Saturday performance. We need to pack the house!

7.    Profits from this production will benefit those attending the International Thespian Festival this summer.

 

INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN FESTIVAL PAYMENT DUE

The first payment for the festival this summer is due this week. Please pay $165 down-payment for the trip on or before February 15, 2012. Make checks payable to AHS Theatre. Bring the health form along with this first payment.

 

We will let you know how much each payment will be as we fund raise.

ON-GOING FUNDRASIER AT SCHLOTZKY’S

JULIE BUSH as set up an on-going fundraiser for AHS Theatre all day from 10 am-10 pm on the second Thursday of the month February-May at our Lamar location.  Mark you calendars for the following dates:

AWARDS GALA DATE CHANGED DUE TO CONFLICT

Although the Gala date was set in August, AHS just announced the date of prom and there is a conflict.

The Red Dragon Players GALA has been changed to Sunday, May 20, 2012. Please make the changes to your calendar.

 

The Circle Needs You...Whether you are a parent, alumni, or community member, you support is needed. The arts programs in America's public schools are routinely one of the first things cut in order to save money and resources. Whether it is music, pottery or theater, there are significant advantages to having those programs offered in public schools. A child taking these classes doesn't have to be the next Mozart or Will Shakespeare to have a positive role in a developing student's life. The AISD & AHS theatre budget was cut this year, and in order for AHS to continue to be the produce quality educational theatre, they need our support. This year, your membership is vital to the continuation of theatre as we know it at Austin High School. There are different levels of membership with different benefits to you. However, the basic membership is $25 and will go a long way in helping the department.
