Meet Our Directors
BILLY DRAGOO taught at Granbury High School and Bowie High School in Arlington before coming to Austin High in the fall of 1993. Mr. Dragoo earned a BFA from The University of Texas in 1987 and a Master of Arts from The University of London in 1990. In the summer of 2002, Mr. Dragoo was granted a scholarship to study at the Globe Theatre in London. He has directed 74 shows in his career. Among his favorites are Equus, The Secret Rapture, A Flea in Her Ear, Anna in the Tropics, Juno and the Paycock and Someone Who'll Watch Over Me. He and his students at have appeared at the UIL One Act Play State Finals six times. Granbury High School appeared there in 1988 (taking third place in AAAA) and in 1989. Austin High School has made five consecutive appearances at the UIL 5A One Act Play State Contest (tying the conference record 2007- 2011) and has won two of the last State Championships. While teaching at Austin High, he has twice been named “Teacher of the Year” -- in 1997 and 2003. |

![]() | Sannon Tipton is excited to be part of the Red Dragon Players. She is a twenty-year veteran of education and theatrical production. During that time, she has taught in environments ranging from an elementary classroom in a migrant-working community to a university lecture hall in the Coastal Bend. Ms. Tipton earned her MFA in Theatre Design from Texas Tech University where some of her favorite designs included CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF and YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU. She is a scenographer and enjoys all elements of technical Theatre. Tipton was part of the state-recognized theatre program at Rogers' High School where four UIL One-Act entries advanced to the state meet in as many years, including two state championships (2002, 2005) and First Runner Up (2004). She has designed professionally for the Angel Fire Mountain Repertory Theatre Company and the Harbor Playhouse. Tipton is committed to the education and development of well-rounded theatre artisans. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and cooking with her husband. |

| ANNIE DRAGOO began teaching and directing in 1993. She holds a BA in English and Speech Communication with a Concentration in Theatre Studies from Houston Baptist University. In the summer of 2008, she was granted a scholarship to study in residency at the Globe Theatre in London and has trained for several years with the Broadway Teaching Lab in New York. Her career has included directing elementary, middle, and high school students across Texas. Annie began the musical theatre program at Austin High in 2004, and in that time has directed twelve musical productions here and 22 musicals in the last 18 years . She wrote the Musical Theatre Curriculum for the state of Texas and is currently writing a musical theatre text book. She has performed in several professional productions in Dallas, Houston, & Austin. Dragoo co-directed two of the last five UIL One Act Play productions that have qualified for the 5A State Contest. Among her favorites productions to direct are Round and Round the Garden, Into the Woods, Urinetown, Alice in Wonderland, and Radio Eyes. |
